INTRO TO THE MULTIMEDIA TECH GALLERY
What will this gallery look like?
ForeignPolicyCamp Vancouver aims to be an innovative, foreign-policy centered hybrid conference combining traditional, unconference and multimedia-based interactions into a nationally projected event. We’re all about the collaboration and sharing of policy-based multimedia in new and exciting forms — and this multimedia tech gallery is the place where we will showcase those interactions!
This is where we will share the data and discussions from our unconference and planned sessions throughout the day of the camp, including data from the ForeignPolicy satellite camps in Montreal, Edmonton and Toronto.
We’re going to have twitter feeds, a participation Mashboard, graphic facilitations, new video-conferencing software provided by TakingITGlobal, chatrooms, live room video feeds, and a whole toolkit of new ideas for participant interaction.
Graphic Facilitation
You will also have the opportunity to 5 graphic facilitators in action in the Multimedia Tech Gallery on the main level of SFU Harbour Centre from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. Headed by professional graphic facilitator, Avril Orloff, this team will be creating 5 murals that represent a collective vision (communicated through an online survey) for ways that Canada can better lead by example in the following 5 areas: Advancing a Green Economy, Fostering Innovation, Championing Good Governance, Embracing Diversity, and Promoting Gender Equality and Human Development.
Avril Orloff, Graphic Facilitator
Avril Orloff is a graphic facilitator who literally draws out people’s ideas by creating a visual record of group processes. Combining words with images, Avril captures the essence of an event as it unfolds, highlighting key ideas and helping the big picture to emerge. She believes that seeing our thoughts “in living colour” brings clarity to conversations, inspires fresh ways of thinking, and engages people more deeply than can be done by words alone. Avril has graphically facilitated meetings, conferences, workshops and dialogues for a wide range of clients, including community groups, government agencies, educational institutions and corporations.
